Pieter Hugo

Pieter Hugo: Portraits 30th Mai von 08 bis 5 Juli 08 Open Eye Gallery and Autograph ABP are proud to present the first substantial UK exhibition South African artist Pieter Hugo. This exhibition focuses on three groups of works, all portraits of use in question to our understanding of how we see others. Our selection of portraits of people with albinism is from the project "Looking well '(2002-2005), the people whose appearance is in some way unusual or unknown functions. Albinismis an inherited disorder usually caused by a lack of melanin in the eyes characterized, skin and hair. Hugo's narrowly framed, uncompromising portraits explore our responses to the physical differences and the importance we attach to the terms "black" and "white."
