Breeding leopard geckos - The Diablo Blanco Morph

No one who breeds animals as a profession, and only a few people who breed animals as a hobby, not accidentally so. The point should be chosen carefully to the adults for the production of offspring to breed with desired properties. So it is with the breeding of leopard geckos, notice where amateur and professional breeders alike seek to create "morphs" - that is, visually recognizable Leos with unique combinations of patterns, background colors, and even eye color.

In the world of the LeopardGecko breeding is the Diablo Blanco morph is a relatively new Triumph, with the first born in late 2006. It was done by the famous (in the leopard gecko world), Ron Tremper, the creator of the first albino strain - the Tremper Albino - back in 1996.

The Diablo Blanco has pure white skin, no patterns or spots all over his body, and all the red eyes, where the pupil and iris not differentiated. Considering that back leopard geckos, as they have found in the wild, a cream to yellowBasic color, black spots like a leopard, and normal, dark eyes, you have to say that this is a triumph of morph leopard gecko is breeding. But how did he do it?

Creating the Diablo Blanco

The creation of the Diablo Blanco morph was only possible through the existence of two other morphs: the Albino Tremper Blazing Blizzard, and the Raptor.

The Albino Tremper Blazing Blizzard itself is a morph between the Blizzard, which is cross and the patternlessTremper Albino, which has no dark pigmentation. This makes for an all-bright animal that can then line bred over generations to create a morph is that it's all over a really pure white.

"RAPTOR" stands for "Ruby-eye Patternless Tremper Albino Orange." The Raptor's eyes when the pupil and iris are indistinguishable, since it is a combination of different morphs, which includes the Eclipse-morph, which has black eyes fixed (the fixed eyes of a recessive EclipseTrain). It was influenced specifically because of his red eyes fixed albinism, the eye color and skin pigmentation.

To prepare the Diablo Blanco, crossed the whitest possible Ron Tremper Albino Tremper Blazing Blizzard female RAPTOR morphs with men, then raised their offspring together. The result was a morph that expresses albinism, with patternless and solid red eyes. Not bad for one days work!

Note that Diablo Blancos unique genes, which means that twothey can breed together to produce offspring to Diablo Blanco, there is no way to Albino Tremper Blazing Blizzard or Diablo Blanco RAPTOR offspring of parents.

Conclusion

So the whole story about the Diablo Blanco's - if it were to breed leopard geckos this as one of the greatest achievements to date. It makes you wonder what's next, maybe an all-black morph with solid red eyes? It's hard not to think, a "Diablo Black" must bejust around the corner!

  1. Hi,

    So if the combo would be like this?;

    Blazing Blizzard x RAPTOR

    Which should be male and female? Does this matter?

    Will crossing any other morphs with het Blazing Blizzard to another morphs with het RAPTOR do as well?

    Thanks
