New membrane-implant surgery

When something new comes on the market, it's always a little scary to try, especially when blindfolded, after all, we only have two of them. A new artificial iris implant was developed to change the color of the eyes.

This implant is safe, well tolerated and gives an appearance more natural than contact lenses. The lens coloboma is particularly intended for patients with albinism or oculocutaneous, although there is a demand forstrictly for cosmetic reasons.

The implant is well tolerated, because it is made of very thin material, ophthalmic silicone. The implant is permanent, but can be removed if necessary. Actually placing the implant is a very simple procedure takes only about 15 minutes.

Valves are used which do not place pressure on the corneoscleral trabecular meshwork and do the collector channels of the eye as haptics often. These flaps help the implant in place andallow normal aqueous flow.

Very few complications have been reported. Corneal edema has been reported, but the state was clear soon after. Hyperemia is a possible side effect, and loss of height of endothelial cells. These side effects often appear not, and they are very small if implanted correctly. On average, visual accuracy was raised to 20/40 or better.

Many people who are interested in it, their eyes look a certain way for their career or simply becausetheir personal preferences have had good results with this operation. In addition to these albinism suffer greatly benefit as well.
